Day two of my participation at the Global Ministries Conference at Multnomah University has consisted of going to a workshop on the issue of biblical relevance and Justice in the 21st Century.
Some thoughts that I picked up on were that:
– Justice is not a concept, it is conduct.
– The conduct is in relationship to others- especially with rights of others.
– God is weighing community and individual rights in the Old Testament when he deals with the laws of Israel.
– That God wants us to deal justly with the poor, widows, orphans, and aliens among us.
I am very excited to think through more of this as this week goes on. Tomorrow I will be flying to Philadelphia for The Justice Conference. I will keep you all updated on what I learn there through all of the workshops and main speakers.
